Welcome! I'm so glad you found your way to my studio! I'm Miss Sofija, a musician and educator based in Oakland, Maine with a secondary studio in Rockport, ME.
Performing live and putting my music out to inspire others is what I live for.
I've also been teaching students aged 4+ since 2018 and have really found my niche with younger students and beginners of all ages. I trained in classical voice for many years, culminating in touring internationally as an opera singer. I have a speciality in working with songwriters of all ages, informed by spending time studying songwriting in SUNY Purchase’s music conservatory as well as my own career as a performing and recording artist.
Against all odds, there I was, on the stage with my guitar, singing for a thousand people. My journey with music reaches beyond the limits of my early childhood memory, from picking up and building my own instruments, to asking my mom to write down lyrics I came up with for when I could read them. With my music out on all major streaming platforms, I use profound, symbolic lyrics, intricate melodies, and complex harmonic structures to send chills through every audience I perform for.
My first teaching experiences began as a teenager in 2018, teaching my peers. My passion for music education expanded in 2023 when I began teaching music in a primary school classroom in 2023. I have taught in classrooms for preschoolers through 8th grade.
I have studied classical voice for many years and toured internationally as an opera singer. I teach an adult ed singing class called “So You Think You Can’t Sing” at Camden Hills Regional High School. I work with students ages 4 and onward in my private studio.
I’ve been writing my own songs since I was 4 years old and grew as a songwriter during my time studying in the songwriting program at SUNY Purchase’s Music Conservatory. I’ve released my original songs online as well as performing at venues live to share my knowledge with others. In 2024, I assisted in teaching a songwriting workshop at The Landing Place in Rockland.
I've found a deep and profound love for facilitating an exploration and curiosity based music learning environment for children and adults of all skill levels.
