Welcome! I'm so glad you found your way to my studio! I'm Miss Sofija, a 20 year old musician, artist, and educator based out in Oakland, Maine with a secondary studio out in Rockport, ME. Performing live and putting my music out to inspire others is what I live for. I've also been teaching students aged 4-40 since 2018 and have really found my niche with younger students and beginners of all ages!
Against all odds, there I was, on the stage with my guitar, singing for a thousand people. My journey with music reaches beyond the limits of my early childhood memory, from picking up and building my own instruments, to asking my mom to write down lyrics I came up with for when I could read them. With my music out on all major streaming platforms, I use profound, symbolic lyrics, intricate melodies, and complex harmonic structures to send chills through every audience I perform for.
I began teaching in 2018 when peers in my highschool wanted to learn music from someone who could relate to them and approach their learning style from a level perspective. However, it wasn't until I began teaching music in a primary school classroom in 2023 that I really found my passion for music education. With classroom experience for grades pk2-3rd, and private studio experience with students aged 4-40 and beyond, I've found a deep and profound love for facilitating an exploration and curiosity based music learning environment for children and adults of all skill levels.
Through the use of stark contrast, sharp geometry, and electric movement, my take on minimalistic surrealism tackles deep, powerful human concepts in a thought provoking, digestible way. I utilize Intentional simplicity of shape and form in order to leave plenty of room for individual interpretation, facilitating self-reflection and discovery within every canvas and page. My fundamental principle with abstract art is that the less there is on the canvas, the more there is in the mind.
